Despite the uncooperative weather conditions, we held a successful Last Stop Loved Cupid Ride and raised over $2500 for Georgia Rescue, Rehabilitation, & Relocation (GRRR). We even got picked up by a couple of news stations! A huge thank you to all who donated, participated, and helped with the ride. Your contributions will go a long way in helping GRRR to continue to do their important work in Savannah and the surrounding communities to help animals in need.
Please mark your calendars for February 10, 2024, and follow Savannah Cupid Ride on Instagram for updates! Be on the lookout for other exciting events in the coming months!
Thank you all for your votes during the nomination period for Connect Savannah’s Best Of 2023! Because of your support, we made it to the voting round for Best Bike Shop, Best Tour Company, and Best Tour Guide! Now we need your votes more than ever to secure some wins! The last day to vote is Monday, March 6. Only the top 10 from each category made it to the voting round, so this is a huge honor for us! And we are the only bike tour nominated for Best Tour Company two years in a row!
The Bike Shop Category is located under the Shopping section, Best Tour Company and Best Tour Guide (Linda VanApeldoorn) are under the Arts & City Life section.
Thank you for the love!
Savannah Scramble – 10 Hour Adventure Race April 22, 2023
It’s about that time again for the Possum Jump Adventures Savannah Scramble! This event opens the Possum Jump race season where participants will have 10 hours to trek, paddle, and bike through our 300-year old city (yes, there’s an urban portion) as well as explore the primeval marshes and pass under centuries-old oaks in the surrounding nature areas. The flat nature of the terrain means you’ll cover ground faster than you expect, and the welcoming atmosphere of both Savannah and the participants make this an amazing event for first-time racers. Last year, almost 40% of the field were new racers, and almost all of them went on to do another Possum Jump event later in the year!
We’re stoked to be the bike shop partner for this race again this year. This is a really cool event, y’all. Register here by April 10, 2023.

Local Rescue Spotlight
This little man was rescued by One Love Animal Rescue here in Savannah and his story is pretty incredible as shared in their Instagram post:
Meet George. Shortly after coming into our care, George fell deathly ill with Parvo. He needed immediate treatment to save his life. George is from a litter of puppies born on Colonel Island. One Love Animal Rescue was contacted to take six puppies, including George. The owners “accidentally” had a litter (their adult dogs were not fixed) and they could not care for them.
When the puppies arrived it was obvious George and two of his brothers were gravely ill. We rushed them directly to the animal hospital and our team of vets diagnosed the puppies with the highly contagious Parvovirus. From that point, the intensive therapy to save them began. Sadly, one of George’s littermates passed away, despite our best efforts.
George spent four days in the ICU receiving around the clock IV fluids. We were not sure if he would come home. Finally, on day four, George turned a corner. He started eating and drinking on his own. He fought back and unlike many that contract parvovirus, George survived! He is now thriving along with his brothers and is available for adoption.
George’s hospital stay totaled $4,700. We are only able to help dogs like George with the support of our community. If you can contribute, thank you! If not, just liking and sharing [social media] posts helps us spread the word and raise funds for difficult medical cases like this one. We appreciate you following along! Let’s save more lives!
One Love Animal Rescue does amazing work here in Savannah. They promote local animal shelter adoptions and raising awareness about responsible pet ownership.
Rescues everywhere are completely overwhelmed right now, so we try to do our part to bring awareness to these issues and babies by highlighting rescue efforts each month. And maybe this sweet baby needs to join your family? Just look at that little angel face! Click here for more information.
